Schlage Primus and Primus Everest
"DO NOT DUPLICATE" keys are not protected by law. Chances are your local hardware store will copy them without sufficient proof. The only way to protect yourself from unwanted duplicates is to use a patented key system.
Primus answers the issue vital to maintaining security, the elimination of key duplication. A patented "dual-locking" feature is tailored to suit your particular needs. The Primus key, with side-bit milling along the key blade, is designed to operate both standard as well as Primus keyways. A standard Schlage section key cannot enter the unique Primus cylinder. Only authorized Schlage Primus dealers can duplicate the key for the end-user designated with a Primus identification card.
KEY CONTROL-Do you have it?

Do you know who has keys to your buildings? Are you sure? Most keys can be duplicated by anyone with a key machine. This includes hardware stores to grocery stores. Can you guarantee an employee hasn't made an extra key, maybe two. You know..., so he can have one for every key ring. Now let's say he misplaces one, or his brother-in-law (the one just out of prison) borrows one. You're losing control of your security. How can you regain control?

PRIMUS

Schlage Primus is a patented restricted keyway. Primus maintains the integrity of your master-key system by inhibiting unauthorized key duplication. This is accomplished by a stringently enforced patented "side-bit milling" on the key.

Other benefits:

  • Retrofit existing systems
    • Existing installations of Schlage standard cylinders are easily retrofitted. This allows you the flexibility to design your security system to incorporate High Security Controlled Access, and Schlage standard cylinders, all within the same project and operated by a single Primus key.
  • Master-keying Capability
    • Primus cylinders may be master-keyed or grand master-keyed into a new system as well as integrated into most existing Schlage master-key systems.
  • Pick Resistant / Drill Resistant / Bump Resistant
    • The specially constructed Primus cylinder is not subject to conventional picking methods. With it's dual locking feature it is very unlikely anyone will unlock it without a key. With hardened pins placed in front of drill susceptible points, bypassing the lock by drilling becomes very difficult also.
